David’s introduction to ‘Historic Corbridge’ – the book:

“As a geographer, who has spent most of his working life teaching this fascinating subject, I have always been interested in the location of settlements and their subsequent development and change. It is evident that Corbridge, as with any village of antiquity, has a wealth of social, architectural and historical stories built into virtually every street and alleyway and so I was delighted to take on the task of writing this book, at the request of the Village Trust.

“Having written over 50 geography text books for 11 to 18-year-olds, I have always aimed to produce works which are accurate, accessible, attractive and, of course, informative. I hope you will find that ‘Historic Corbridge’ is no exception to this rule! Whether you use it as a guidebook, as you explore the village, or peruse it at your leisure at home, I trust you will find it as enjoyable to read as I did to write.”
